Walking down the streets of Bangkok one is inevitably approached by gentlemen offering a "20 baht 2 hour city tour" of the city. Now common sense should tell most people that 50 cents for a two hour tour is too good to be true - and it is !
These guys will whisk you off on a never ending tour of silk shops, tailor shops and jewellery shops, plus anywhere else they may come up with. Rest assured every single place will pay the touts a high commission, charge you way over the usual price or in the case of jewellry shops, may actually defraud you with fake gems. You can expect severe sales pressure at each stop and if you don't buy the touts will start to get nasty.
Despite the warnings about these guys I still saw at least half a dozen folks fall for the bait in the space of less than an hour.
There are many other variations of these scams....usually involving jewellery, silk, massages, tailor shops or - more dangerously - card games.
Stay safe folks and avoid these sharks.
