The world's biggest Hotel

Whilst at Genting we checked out the First World Hotel, which with 6118 rooms claims to be the largest hotel in the world. After wandering around this place for an hour, I can certainly believe it.

The lobby in this place is enourmous. There are maybe 30 or more check in desks, each with its own "take a number and take a seat" queue just to see someone. The lobby area is larger than many airports I have seen and there were maybe 500 or more people waiting out to check in or or out. You wouldn't want to be in a hurry.

Everything else is on a similar massive scale. There is a half kilometre long fairy-light lit underground drive for arriving guests, although many simply arrive and depart on the masses of elevators elsewhere into the Genting complex. The ground floor of the hotel has masses of shops, places to eat, medical facilities, everything really. We got as far as exploring the countless lifts heading up to the hotel rooms.

The whole idea of the place is to create an affordable hotel to cater for local tourists on a very large scale and on this level the hotel certainly succeeds. Room rates are cheap and if you book ahead there are amazing bargains to be had. Just expect to wait awhile when you are checking in !
