Leaving Laos via the Freindship Bridge is a lot easier than arriving. There is no queue and no waiting and it took only moments before we were waiting for the 20 baht bus ride back to Nong Khai, Thailand.
There are 3 or 4 duty free shops to entertain you whilst you wait, otherwise there is little to do. We stocked up on goodies then the bus arrived and we waved goodbye to Laos as we zoomed across the Mekong back into Thailand.
Arrival in Thailand was painless (once you figure out where the immigration forms are) and we were through in 5 minutes. Our driver was waiting nearby to take us to the Nong Khai riverfront to watch the sunset over dinner and drinks.
